New Delhi: Manoj Kumar Agrawal is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Cocking Coal Limited (BCCL), a PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) Panel on Thursday. Presently, he is serving as Director (Technical, P&P) in the same organisation.
Agrawal has been recommended for the post of CMD of BCCL from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on June 12. Out of 11 candidates, two candidates each from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Indian Railways, and one candidate each from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOCL), Engineering Projects (India) Limited and BCCL.
Agarwal has been serving as Director (Technical) of BCCL since January 27. He holds a bachelor’s degree in technology in mining engineering from the Indian School of Mines and a Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi. He has also obtained a Manager’s first-class certificate of competency to manage a coal mine.
In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the functions of the departments of planning and project, E&T and IT, safety and rescue, geology and drilling, quality control, industrial engineering, environment, civil industrial and block OCP. He is also responsible for the functions in the areas of Barora, Block-II, Govindpur, Sijua, Katras and CV Area.
Before joining BCCL, he was associated with Central Coalfields Limited and Northern Coalfields Limited.
