PESB recommends Shankar Narayan for CEL's CMD post

PESB panel has recommended the name of Shankar Narayan for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of CEL

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shankar Narayan, General Manager at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), for appointment to the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Central Electronics Limited (CEL), a Schedule ‘B’ Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The selection was made during PESB Meeting No. 104/2025, held on October 29, at 3:30 PM. Eleven candidates appeared for the interview before the Board, representing major PSUs such as BHEL, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).

Among the candidates interviewed were Rajnish Goyal, Managing Director and CEO on deputation to NBPPL (as nominee of BHEL management); Ramnik Sarbahi, General Manager (Power Sector – Eastern Region), BHEL; Ajay Saxena, General Manager and Project Director, BHEL; and several other senior executives from BHEL, BSNL, CRIS, and Indian Railways.

Following the evaluation of the candidates’ credentials and performance during the interview, the Board found Shankar Narayan most suitable for the role and recommended his name for the post of CMD, Central Electronics Limited.

Central Electronics Limited, headquartered in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh, is engaged in the production of solar photovoltaic systems, railway electronics, and defence products. The appointment of a new CMD is expected to further strengthen CEL’s leadership and contribute to its growth and diversification in the strategic electronics and renewable energy sectors.
