PESB recommends Subhasis Sengupta for RINL's Director (Operations) post

The PESB panel has recommended the name of Subhasis Sengupta for the post of Director (Operations) of RINL on Tuesday

New Delhi: Subhasis Sengupta is set to be next Director (Operations) of Rashtriya Inspat Nigam Limited (RINL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager (Projects) at Durgapur Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

Sengupta has been recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of RINL from a list of 12 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its 19th meeting of 2026 held on March 10. The other candidates, who were on the list were from organisations including RINL, SAIL, NTPC Limited, NMDC Limited and Cement Corporation of India Limited.

Sengupta has over 33 years of experience in the steel industry, largely with SAIL, where he has held several key roles in operations, maintenance and project management.

Prior to his current role, Sengupta served as Chief General Manager (Works) at SAIL Growth Works (SGW), Kulti, and also held additional charge as Executive Director (Growth Division). Earlier, he worked as General Manager (Blast Furnace–Maintenance) at Durgapur Steel Plant and held multiple leadership roles in Central Engineering Maintenance and Machine Shop operations.

He began his career as a Junior Engineer at Durgapur Steel Plant and also worked briefly as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Reliance Industries Limited.
