Power Ministry appoints P Goverthanan as non-official independent director of NHPC

The Board of Directors has appointed P Goverthanan as an Additional and Independent Director of NHPC Limited

New Delhi: State-owned NHPC limited said in a regulatory filing that the the Board of Directors has appointed P Goverthanan (DIN: 10064794) as an Additional and Independent Director of NHPC Limited with effect from Friday. "Ministry of Power vide order no 2/13/2021-NHPC dated March 2 has conveyed the appointment of P Goverthanan (DIN: 10064794) as Non-Official Independent Director on the Board of NHPC Limited for a period of three years with effect from the date of notification of his appointment, or until further orders," it said.

"It is to inform that Goverthanan is not related to any of the Directors of the Company and is not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any order of Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other such authority," the filing added.

Further, it said that extension of additional charge of the post of Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC to Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL is under process.

Premkumar Goverthanan is holding bachelor’s degree in economics from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. He is also associated with politics and is supporting his son’s business initiatives. He is an entrepreneur and has vast experience in Manufacturing Industry and Agriculture.

Goverthanan is now engaged as Senior Advisor for his son's Group of Companies based in Chennai, which focuses on construction and development.
