PVKR Mallikarjuna Rao takes over as Director (Personnel) of BCCL

PVKR Mallikarjuna Rao, who was serving as General Manager at Coal India Limited, has taken over as Director (Personnel) of BCCL

New Delhi: PVKR Mallikarjuna Rao has assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. Rao has been appointed as Director (Personnel) of BCCL for a period with effect from June 1, till the date of his superannuation, i.e. July 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Prior to this, he was serving as General Manager of Coal India Limited (CIL).

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Rao was recommended for the post of Director (Personnel) of BCCL by a PESB panel on November 4. He was selected for the post from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. With his new assignment, Rao has replaced RS Mahapatra who was holding the position since December 23, 2017. 

Mallikarjuna Rao's profile

Rao is a graduate in Commerce from Andhra University. Rao obtained his postgraduate degree in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Nagpur University. He joined Coal India Limited as a welfare office in 1987 in Western Coalfields Limited. He worked in different subsidiaries of Coal India Limited in various capacities. Prior to joining CIL, he was serving as Chief Manager (Personnel) at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) with its headquarter in Dhanbad. The company was incorporated in January 1972 to operate coking coal mines (214 in number) operating in the Jharia and Raniganj Coalfields and was taken over by the government on October 16, 1971.
