Sanjay Kumar Jha assumes charge as Director (Technical) of MCL

Sanjay Kumar Jha has officially assumed the position of Director (Technical) at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL)

New Delhi: Sanjay Kumar Jha has officially assumed the position of Director (Technical) at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), bringing with him over three decades of extensive experience in the coal industry.

Jha has held key leadership roles in MCL, including serving as Area General Manager of the Lakhanpur Area (2022-24) and the Basundhara Area (2019-2022). His tenure in these positions has been marked by significant contributions to mining operations, strategic planning, and technical advancements within the sector.

Recognized for his exemplary leadership, Shri Jha was honored with the ‘Best Area General Manager’ award under the Mega Project category at the Coal Minister’s Awards for 2021-22. Additionally, he was bestowed with the ‘Best Area General Manager’ award by Coal India Limited for 2022-23.

Among his notable achievements, Jha played a pivotal role in the commencement of mining operations at the integrated Lilari-Belpahar-Lakhanpur project. He also spearheaded the commissioning of the Ib Valley Washery, facilitated the identification of land for MCL’s 10-megawatt ground-mounted solar plant, and oversaw the self-relocation of Khandsa village for the establishment of a Coal Ammonium Nitrate plant.

The management and employees of MCL extended a warm welcome to Shri Jha, expressing confidence in his leadership and technical expertise to drive the company towards new milestones in operational efficiency and sustainable mining practices.
