New Delhi: Sanjiv Kumar Singh is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a PSU under the Ministry of Mines. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) Panel on Wednesday. Presently, he is serving as Director (Mining) in the same organisation.
Singh has been recommended for the post of CMD of HCL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB Selection Panel in its selection meeting held on December 18. The shortlisted candidates included senior executives from prominent PSUs such as Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Power Grid, Indian Railways, Cement Corporation of India, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and HCL itself.
Singh is a seasoned mining professional. He has been serving as Director (Mining) at HCL since March 26, 2022. With a B. Tech in Mining Engineering and an M. Tech in Opencast Mining from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, as well as an MBA in Finance from BIT Mesra, Singh has over three decades of extensive experience in mine planning, design, statutory clearances, and project management.
Prior to joining HCL, Singh has held senior positions at NTPC Ltd. and CMPDIL, where he played key roles in mining operations and tender management. His term at HCL will continue until June 30, 2026.
