The move comes as SJVN continues to expand its hydro and renewable power portfolio and consolidate its position among India’s leading power-sector PSUs. In August 2024, SJVN was conferred Navratna status by the Department of Public Enterprises, becoming the 25th Navratna CPSE and gaining enhanced autonomy in decision-making.

The promotions also follow recent leadership changes at the top: the Ministry of Power has extended Bhupender Gupta’s additional charge as CMD of SJVN for three months from August 1, 2026, while a full-time incumbent is appointed.
