Subrata Shekhar Sinha assumes charge as Director (Technical) of NCL

Subrata Shekhar Sinha, who was serving as General Manager in SECL, has taken over as Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL)

New Delhi: Subrata Shekhar Sinha has assumed the charge as Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, on Saturday. Prior to this assignment, Sinha was serving as General Manager of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), also a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. According to an order issued on April 28, Sinha has been appointed on the post for a period of with effect from August 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e. September 30, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported when Sinha had been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of NCL by a PESB panel on January 6. He was selected from a list of 10 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Shina's profile

Shina is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech) from IIT (BHU), Varanasi in 1983. He started his career from Coal India Limited (CIL) and has a rich experience of 37 years in coal & mining sector. With the diversified experience of opencast and underground coal mines, he headed different positions in SECL and boosted the production and productivity numbers. He played a vital role in testing and implementation of the country's first short wall mining method in a SECL underground mine.  
In his tenure at Coal India Headquarters, Kolkata, he held many key positions including Head of Production Department and also played an important role in the procurement of High capacity equipment and implementation of ERP.

During his stint in Coal India Limited, he visited Australia for training programs and to attend International Conferences. He has also done the Executive Development Program from Wharton Business School by the University of Pennsylvania, USA in 2009. For his numerous contributions in the fields of coal mining, he has been awarded various accolades and recognition.
