New Delhi: In a nationwide survey based on strict performance measures Fame India, Asia Post & PSU Watch have chosen top 50 Effective Bureaucrats 2019 who have created new benchmarks of performance in public service.
Parthasarthi Sen Sharma, an IAS of 1994 batch and CMD of 2 Central PSUs, PDIL and FAGMIL, features in the list. The parameters for selection of Parthasarthi Sen Sharma were: Effective governance, sagacious decision making, Responsible working, Professional attitude, behaviour with people at large and the ability to take quick and impactful decisions.
Sharma grew up and got educated in school and university in Delhi and is a career civil servant by profession and is a member of the Indian Administrative Service of the U.P cadre. He has a degree in Mechanical engineering and another of MBA. He is currently working in the department of fertilizers as Joint Secretary and is also holding additional charges of CMD, PDIL and FAGMIL, two central public sector undertakings. Prior to that for more than two decades in the state of Uttar Pradesh, he has worked in various capacities like secretary to chief minister, staff officer to chief secretary, MD of power distribution companies, secretary, education in which capacity he was instrumental in executing the world's largest single procurement and distribution of laptops to students.
ParthaSarthi Sen Sharma is also a popular author and has so far written four books – two travelogues – 'A Passage across Europe(2011) and 'Every mile a memory' (2016) and two novels – 'Love side by side (2015) and 'Lucknow diaries : of love and longing'(2018). His books have been read by thousands and first of the three books mentioned above have been translated into Hindi too
He also worked as the secretary of the UP IAS association, the largest state association of IAS officers and has recently been elected as secretary to the central IAS association. His maiden published book, a travelogue titled 'A passage across Europe' appeared in 2011. Apart from his career as a civil servant and his writings, Partha loves to spend time with his family. He is an experienced traveller, having travelled in over twenty countries. He loves to read in English, Hindi and Bangla and is an enthusiastic sports person.
