Anil Kumar Singh set to be next Director (Technical) of WCL

New Delhi: Anil Kumar Singh is set to be the next Director (Technical) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel. He is currently working as General Manager in Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), also a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal.

Singh has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of WCL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel in their selection meeting held on Thursday. The other six candidates who were on the list were each one from Coal India Limited (CIL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), NLC India Limited and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited.

As Director (Technical) of WCL, Singh will be a member of the Board of Directors of WCL and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for the operation of mines and also of field activities, technical functions and safety of mines.

A subsidiary of Coal India, WCL has shown remarkable growth in past few years.
