New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Arvind Kumar Kundalia to the post of Secretary, Technology Development Board (TDB) on Monday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Kundalia has been appointed to the post for a period of three years with effect from the assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Currently, he is working as Principal Scientist in the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Headquarters, New Delhi.
Kundalia is an Engineering Graduate (BE in Civil Engineering) from Delhi University. He also has done Masters in Technology (M Tech in Environmental Science & Engineering) and an MBA in Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services from the IIT-Delhi. He had joined CSIR, Delhi in 2007.
Technology Development Board (TDB)
Technology Development Board (TDB), is a statutory body established by the government under Technology Development Board Act-1995, to promote development and commercialisation of indigenous technology and adaptation of imported technology for much wider application. The board consists of 11 Board members. The Government reconstituted the Board in March 2000. The Board plays a pro-active role by encouraging enterprises to take up technology-oriented products. The board provides equity capital or loans to industrial concerns and financial assistance to research and development institutions. The loans carry a simple interest rate of 5 per cent per annum.
