New Delhi: Ashim Kumar Ghosh, the current Director (Production) at Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), is set to take over as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-owned enterprise. His name has been recommended by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) after the final interview.

Ghosh took over the charge of Director (Production) on September 11, 2018. He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur. He started his career as Junior Executive Trainee (Mechanical) at HFCL Barauni and became Junior Engineer (Mechanical) at HFCL Durgapur. He joined Namrup Fertilizer Unit in March 2003. He worked in HFCL and BVFCL at various capacities in the mechanical discipline before becoming GM (Unit) at BVFCL, Namrup.

His total work experience of around 30 years has been dedicated entirely to the industrial aspects of maintenance, production planning and operations in Ammonia and Urea plants, and to the overall improvement of plants in terms of capacity utilisation, energy consumption and profitability. He played an active role in Namrup Revamp Project and took a lead role in the erection and commissioning of N-II group of plants.

He has initiated a number of actions, including replacement of Synthesis converter basket, many critical heat exchangers, cooling tower renovation, retrofitting of EMG turbine of Syn, gas compressor of N-III and other cost-effective measures.
