Bengaluru: Leading Defence PSUs Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and BEML Limited on Tuesday at BEL-Bangalore organised a roadshow in the run-up to the 11th biennial edition of DefExpo India-2020, scheduled to be held in Lucknow from February 5 to 8, 2020.

The road-show was organised to urge south based vendors from the private sector, MSMEs and start-ups to actively participate in the upcoming Defence exhibition and take advantage of the potential business opportunities in the offing.

Defexpo-2020, being organised by the Ministry of Defence has 'Digital Transformation of Defence' as its theme. The event would provide a common platform for Defence industries, both public and private, MSMEs and start-ups to showcase their capabilities and R&D strengths to potential customers from both India and abroad.

Welcoming the gathering, BEL's Director (Marketing) Anandi Ramalingam said that international exhibitions like DefExpo help in providing a boost to the local Defence ecosystem. Bengaluru is a start-up capital and start-ups stand to gain a lot of exposure by participating in such events, she added.

BEL's Chief General Manager AK Srivastav made a detailed presentation on DefExpo and elaborated the advantages for business enterprises on participating in the show. Ministry of Defence's Dupety (Department of Defence Production) Gourav Sharma assured the vendors of the government's wholehearted support in enhancing their business. BEML's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Deepak Kumar Hota informed the gathering that all support is being extended by Defence PSUs to entrepreneurs for the supply of Defence aggregates. He appealed to the participants to be a part of DefExpo and widen their exposure and customer base. Gaurav Gupta (IAS) Principal Secretary of Industries & Commerce (The government of Karnataka) briefed the vendors about the state government policies in promoting industries.

The Roadshow, which ended with an interactive session, was a grand success with participation from more than 400 vendors from across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
