New Delhi: To deal with the on-going crisis due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the state-run Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has come forward to join hands in nation's fight against the disease. To tackle the pandemic, employees of the defence PSU have contributed a day's salary amounting to Rs 2.71 crore to the Prime Minister's citizen assistance and relief in emergency situations (PM CARES) Fund.

Apart from this, the company has also released Rs 10 crore from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund towards PM CARES fund to combat and contain the COVID-19 pandemic in India and also for relief efforts. BEL is putting in all the efforts to support the country's war against COVID-19.

The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which emerged from the Chinese city of Wuhan last year, has killed more than 46,000 people globally and more than 9,00,000 have been infected so far. In India, there are around 2,000 people who have been infected with this deadly virus and around 50 people have died due to infection, according to the data received from the Health Ministry.

Bharat Electronics Limited 

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is a state-owned aerospace and defence company with about nine factories and several regional offices in India. The organisation is owned by the government and primarily manufactures advanced electronic products for the Indian Armed Forces. BEL is one of nine PSUs under the Ministry of Defence of India. It has been granted Navratna status by the government.
