New Delhi: Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), BEML Limited recorded its highest-ever turnover of Rs 3,557 crore for the FY 2020-21 against the previous year turnover of Rs 3,029 crore, registering a growth of 17 percent. In spite of major disruption and slowdown of economic activities caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has been able to perform so creditably. The value of production stood at an all-time high Rs 3,556 crore. The company’s PBT stood at Rs 93 crore, a jump of 285 percent compared to the last year.

Under the Atmanirbharta Mission, BEML rolled out state-of-the-art machines in all its three business verticals.

The first prototype Mechanical Minefield Marking Equipment Mk-II, was built on BEML Multipurpose vehicle (6x6) through ToT from R&D E Engineers, DRDO. BEML is expected to receive orders of more than 55 systems from the Ministry of Defence after the successful trial evaluation.

BEML has also delivered one of Asia’s biggest BH205E dump Truck to NCL apart from the BE800D excavator to Coal India Limited under Aatmanirbharta Mission.

During the year, the company has doubled its export.

Further, BEML bagged major orders from the government of Cameroon for the supply of 71 units of construction equipment worth Rs 160 crore.

“It is creditable for Team BEML to achieve this highest-ever turnover in spite of tough conditions. And we were able to meet our customers’ requirements amidst lockdown last year. Significantly, we won the majority of the orders against stiff global competition,” said BEML CMD MV Rajasekhar.
