Bharat Electronics wins 3 Governance Now PSU Awards

New Delhi: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received three Governance Now awards at the 8th Governance Now PSU Awards. The awards were present to BEL for Nation Building, HR Excellence and Digital Security; and BEL's Director (HR) KM Shivakumaran received the HR Leadership award. The awards were presented by Dr Kiran Bedi at the 8th Governance Now PSU Awards ceremony held virtually on July 29. All four awards were received by BEL's Director (HR) KM Shivakumaran. The Governance Now Awards recognise the efforts of public sector undertakings (PSUs) that have been key to the country's growth.

BEL received the 'Award for Nation Building' for supporting the government's fight against COVID-19 by manufacturing and supplying 30,000 indigenous ICU ventilators in record time. BEL is proud to have created a capable ecosystem for manufacturing medical grade equipment indigenously and addressing the healthcare needs of our nation in a timely manner. This is a true example of 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat.'

The 'HR Excellence Award' was given for BEL achieving people capability maturity model (PCMM) Level-3, being an excellent employer with positive leadership and management, having integrated ethical culture, clear human resources policy that creates a stimulating and supportive workplace, where employees are engaged with company values and strategic goals with excellence in staff retention and development. There are structured executive development programmes in place as well as reskilling or repositioning of human resources in accordance with new technological implementations or policy changes or business diversification. BEL empowers women and provides a good work-life balance.

While Shivakumaran received the 'HR Leadership Award' for being a dynamic and visionary HR leader. His rich and varied experience as an HR professional has helped in transforming the HR function to be an enabler in business. He has been instrumental in adopting and implementing new HR policies. He takes a keen interest in the well-being of employees and their families.

The 'Award for Digital Security' recognised BEL setting up Internet Security Operations Centre (SOC) to protect information and data from unauthorised people.
