Bhavana Walimbe set to be Director of Census Operations

New Delhi: Bhavana Walimbe (IAS) is set to be Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) of Madhya Pradesh.

According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Bhavana Walimbe, who was recommended by the state government of Madhya Pradesh, has been selected for the appointment as Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) of Madhya Pradesh at Deputy Secretary level under the Central Staffing Scheme. She has been appointed for a period up to March 31, 2023, from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until the further orders, whichever.

Bhavana Walimbe is a 2008-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. Currently, she is serving in her home cadre.

Census of India

The census has undertaken every 10 years, beginning in 1872 under British Viceroy Lord Mayo, the first complete census was taken in 1881. Post-1949, it has been conducted by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs. All the censuses since 1951 were conducted under the 1948 Census of India Act. The last census was held in 2011, whilst the next census going to be held in 2021.
