ACC clears top-level IPS reshuffle; Alok Kumar Mittal, Amit Garg, Sujeet Pandey get new roles

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointments of three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to new positions in the police administration and training ecosystem, including the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).

Alok Kumar Mittal (IPS)

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday, Alok Kumar Mittal (IPS) has been appointed as Director General at Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).

Mittal is a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Haryana cadre. Presently, he is serving in his cadre. As per the DoPT order, his tenure will be effective from the date of assuming charge and continue till June 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Amit Garg (IPS)

In another appointment, Amit Garg (IPS) has been appointed as Director at National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Garg a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Currently, he is serving as Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA). As per DoPT order, The DoPT order the post of Director of NCRB has been temporarily upgraded to the Director General level on a personal basis to facilitate the appointment.

Garg will hold the position from the date of joining until October 31, 2027, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He succeeds Alok Ranjan (IPS; Madhya Pradesh cadre, 1991 batch).

Sujeet Pandey (IPS)

Further, the ACC has approved the appointment of Sujeet Pandey, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, as Director at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).

Pandey, who is currently serving in his cadre, will assume charge from the date of joining and remain in office until July 31, 2028, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He will succeed Amit Garg following the latter's appointment as Director of NCRB.
