New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the central deputation tenure of Abhimanyu Kumar, a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Rajasthan cadre, as Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, in the Ministry of Cooperation.

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on 24 July 2026, Kumar’s tenure has been extended for two years beyond January 16, 2027, up to January 16, 2029. The extension represents the maximum permissible period of seven years on central deputation outside the cadre in a single stint.

The order states that his continuation will be co-terminus with the tenure of the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary, or until further orders—whichever is earlier.
