

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Akshay Tripathi (IAS) Private Secretary to Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 7, Tripathi has been appointed at the Deputy Secretary level for a tenure of five years from the date he assumes charge of the post.
His tenure will, however, be co-terminus with the Minister's tenure, or continue until he ceases to function as Private Secretary or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Tripathi is a 2014-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Presently, he is serving as District Magistrate and Collector of Bahraich.
A B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur, Tripathi secured All India Rank 4 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Before joining the IAS, he briefly served as an Assistant Materials Manager in the Indian Railways.

During his career, he has held key assignments including District Magistrate of Lalitpur, Special Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh IT & Electronics Department and Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation Limited (UPLC), Vice Chairman of the Lucknow Development Authority, and Municipal Commissioner of Kanpur Nagar. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration for his "Swachh Bhavishya" initiative.
The DoPT has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to relieve Tripathi of his current responsibilities immediately so that he can take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
