New Delhi: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) vide its office order dated November 18 nominated Ashish Upadhyaya, Special Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Power as part-time official director, on the board of directors of HUDCO. He was appointed in his capacity as link officer of Financial Advisor, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The new director has been appointed with immediate effect and until further orders, stated a mandatory filing by the company.
The regulatory filing also stated, "Upadhyaya does not hold any shares in the Company and does not have any inter-se relationship with the other Director(s) of the company. Further, based on the affirmation, he is not debarred from holding the office of director by virtue of any order(s) issued by SEBI or any such authority."
Ashish Upadhyaya is an IAS officer of 1989 Batch belonging to Madhya Pradesh cadre. Currently, working as Special Secretary & F A, Ministry of Power, and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. Having done his post-graduation in History from St. John College, Agra, he joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989 and has served for more than 33 years in various capacities in the state government of MP and central government. He has been a collector for more than five years in three districts of MP and Chhattisgarh. Upadhyaya has served at the state level as Secretary and Principal Secretary of various departments including Home, Higher Education and Finance for several years. As Joint Secretary, Coal, he has been instrumental in developing systems by application of space technology for curbing the menace of illegal mining. He believes in "Knowledge in Action" and while being in the service, he continued his pursuit of education and completed post-graduation in Economics and LLB. He also did his Master's degree in Public Administration from Maxwell School of Citizenship, Syracuse University in USA and PhD from Devi Ahilya University Indore. Upadhyaya has been working as Additional /Special Secretary & FA, Ministry of Power since November 14, 2019 and holding additional charge of Financial Advisor in Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs since August 12.
