New Delhi/Lucknow: Senior 1995-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ashok Kumar Singh of the Uttar Pradesh cadre has been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), Uttar Pradesh.

Singh has over three decades of experience in policing and administration, having held several key operational, administrative and leadership positions in the Uttar Pradesh Police as well as the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

During his career, Singh has served in various senior positions, including Superintendent of Police (SP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Inspector General (IG) and Additional Director General of Police (ADG).

Among his key assignments in Uttar Pradesh, Singh served as ADG, Dial 112, where he was associated with the state’s emergency response and public assistance system. He also headed the DG Recruitment and Promotion Board, overseeing recruitment, selection and career progression-related responsibilities within the state police force.
