Bhuvnesh Kumar (IAS) takes charge as UIDAI CEO

New Delhi: Bhuvnesh Kumar (IAS) has taken over charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday. He is a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. With his new role, he succeeds Amit Agrawal, who has taken over as the Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals.

Kumar will continue to hold his position as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). A distinguished alumnus and gold medalist from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, Kumar brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Over the course of his career, Kumar has held several key positions at both the central and state levels. At the Centre, he previously served as Joint Secretary in MeitY. In Uttar Pradesh, he held critical roles such as Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries; Secretary of Finance, MSME, and Technical Education; and Divisional Commissioner in the Department of Land Revenue.

His extensive administrative experience and proven track record are expected to further strengthen UIDAI’s mandate of managing Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identification system.
