New Delhi: D Senthil Pandiyan (IAS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Ayush. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved his appointment on May 14. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Pandiyan has been appointed to the post for a tenure of five years with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. With this assignment, Pandiyan will replace Roshan Jaggi (IFoS). Pandiyan is a 2002-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttarakhand cadre.

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy (abbreviated as AYUSH) is purposed with developing education, research and propagation of indigenous alternative medicine systems in India. As per a recent notification published in the Gazette of India on April 13, 2021, the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), will now be known as the Ministry of Ayush. The Ministry of Ayush includes the seven traditional systems of healthcare.
