New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the premature repatriation of Sanjay Kumar (IAS) to his parent cadre on personal grounds. He is a 2008 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of AGMUT cadre. Currently, he is serving as Deputy Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India (ECI).

According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 24, the approval for his repatriation was granted following a proposal from the Election Commission of India. His repatriation will take place before the completion of his tenure at the Commission.

Kumar has an educational background from Delhi University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He has nearly two decades of administrative experience spanning regional governance and central ministries.
Prior to join as Deputy Election Commissioner at the Election Commission of India, he has held as a Director in the Ministry of Finance. He has also held key positions as Revenue Secretary for the Government of Goa, Excise Commissioner for Delhi, and District Collector in both Delhi and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
