Ghanshyam Prasad appointed as Chairperson of CEA

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ghanshyam Prasad as Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). According to an order issued on July 11, 2022, from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Prasad has been appointed to the post on a deputation basis with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post for a period up to May 28, 2025. Presently, he is serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power.

Prasad is a Central Power Engineering Service (CPES) officer of 1989-batch. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary (OM, Transmission & R&R) in the Ministry of Power. Prior to his current assignment, he has held as Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Power. He also held as the Chief Engineer (Distribution) in Central Electricity Authority and Director (Transmission and OM) in the Ministry of Power.

In addition to the appointment of the Chairperson, the Govt has also approved the appointment of two members of the CEA. Here are newly appointed members of CEA-

MAKP Singh appointed as Member (Hydro)

The Government has also approved the appointment of MAKP Singh as a Member (Hydro) of the CEA. He has been appointed to the post on a deputation basis, for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation, i.e. June 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier. Presently, he is serving as the Chief Engineer in the organisation.

Ajay Talegaonkar appointed as Member (Economic & Commercial)

While Ajay Talegaonkar, who is also serving as Chief Engineer in CEA, has been appointed as Member (Economic & Commercial) in the organisation. He has been appointed to the post on a deputation basis, for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation i.e. September 30, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.
