Govt approves temporary upgradation of key bureaucratic posts on Wed

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted ex-post facto approval for the temporary upgradation of three senior-level bureaucratic posts across different ministries, as per a Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order issued on Wednesday.

According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued on May 21, the post of Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry—currently held by Rajesh Agarwal, IAS (MN:94) — has been temporarily upgraded to the level of Special Secretary.

This upgradation, which elevates the post to the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, is effective from April 18, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

Similarly, the ACC has approved the temporary upgradation of the post of Director General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. The position, currently held by Pallavi Jam Govil, IAS (MP:94), has been upgraded from the level of Additional Secretary to Secretary. This change will remain in effect from April 21, 2025, to May 31, 2025.

In addition, the committee has approved an extension in the temporary upgradation of a Joint Secretary-level post to the rank of Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. The extension covers the period from April 27, 2025, to May 13, 2025.
