New Delhi: Ministry of Power's Joint Secretary Mritunjay Kumar Narayan (IAS) has been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the board of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Thursday. He has been appointed to the post in place of Tanmay Kumar (IAS) with effect from November 5. This information has been shared by the Maharatna Power PSU during the regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Thursday.
Narayan is a 1995-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. Currently, he is serving as Joint Secretary (Transmission, Information Technology) in the Ministry of Power. He has done both B Tech and M Tech in electrical engineering Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He has also done M Sc in Public Policy and Management from King's College London and an LLB from Lucknow University.
In a career spanning of about 25 years, Narayan has had the experience of working in various positions in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Prior to joining the Ministry of Power as Joint Secretary, he had been Secretary to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for more than two years. He has wide experience in policy formulation and implementation as well. He had held the position of Commissioner in Commercial Tax and Entertainment Tax for more than two years. At the cutting age of administration, he has held nearly every field position in the State of Uttar Pradesh from Sub-Divisional Magistrate to Chief Development Officer to Collector to Divisional Commissioner. He also served as Director on the Board of Lucknow City Transport Services Limited and Meerut City Transport Services Limited. He is also on the Board of PFC Limited, REC Limited and PTC India Limited as Government Nominee Director.
