New Delhi: Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Mritunjaya Sharma (IRS) has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 10, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sharma as OSD to President at the level of Director from the date of assumption of the charge of the post for a period up-to January 13, 2027 (i.e. for the balance period of his five years central deputation tenure) or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Further, the ACC has also approved the proposal for the curtailment of tenure of Sharma as Director in the Ministry of Civil Aviation under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Sharma is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2009-batch. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Secretary (Director level) in Ministry of Civil Aviation, he was serving as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax.
Sharma is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech in Mechanical Engineering) from Punjab Technical University. He has also completed Masters of Engineering (M Tech) from Panjab University. Prior to joining IRS services in 2009, Sharma has worked with Maharatna Power PSU NTPC Limited from September 2004 to August 2009 as a Senior Engineer.
