

New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the assignment of additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, to Punya Salila Srivastava (IAS). She currently serves as Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to the order, Srivastava will hold the additional charge from November 15 to November 23, 2025, during the period of leave of Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush.
The temporary assignment ensures continuity of administrative functioning and oversight at the Ministry of Ayush during the specified period.
Srivastava is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1993 AGMUT cadre and currently serves as Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, where she leads key national initiatives aimed at strengthening public health systems and healthcare delivery. Prior to assuming charge as Secretary, she served as Officer-on-Special Duty in MoHFW in the rank of Secretary to the Government of India.
Before joining the health ministry, Srivastava held the position of Special Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Over her distinguished career spanning more than three decades, she has served in pivotal administrative roles, including Deputy Commissioner, Director, and Commissioner in various State and Union Territory administrations. At the central level, she has contributed significantly as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and later as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
An alumna of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, Srivastava holds both graduate and postgraduate degrees in Physics. She also earned a Master’s degree in Public Management from the University of Maryland, USA, further enhancing her expertise in governance and public policy.
