New Delhi: Ravi Dhawan (IAS) has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Ministry of Power, Govt of India on Thursday. Dhawan is a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 2011-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on August 8, Dhawan has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The DoPT order further directed that Dhawan be relieved of his present duties immediately to take up the new assignment.

Dhawan is a B. Com (Hons.) graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, and secured the 6th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Presently, he is serving as Member (Administration) of the Delhi Jal Board, Government of NCT of Delhi. Throughout his career, Dhawan has held various key positions, demonstrating his commitment to public service.

He has served as Special Secretary (Power), Secretary for Education, Tourism, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the Government of Goa, and Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. He has also held roles as Deputy Commissioner, Special Secretary (IT), Special Secretary (Finance), and Special Commissioner (Goods and Services Tax). He is currently serving as Member (Admn.) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Government of NCT of Delhi.
