
New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the central deputation tenure of Santosh Kumar Yadav (IAS), as Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). His tenure, which was set to conclude on February 17, 2025, has now been extended until February 17, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Yadav will continue to serve in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, with the extension facilitated through the continuation of the temporary downgradation of the post.
Yadav is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1995 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has been serving as NHAI Chairman since January 2, 2023. Prior to joining as Chairman, NHAI, Yadav served as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education. He has been involved in policy making and decisions in various sectors like Human Resource Development, Administration, Personnel, Finance, Agriculture, Public Administration & Urban Transport Technologies.
In a career spanning over 27 years, he has handled several key assignments at the Centre, State & Local levels. As Vice Chairman & later as Chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority during 2012-2015, he conceived & implemented several infrastructure projects. He held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority in 2015 and was Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation in 2017.
