Lucknow/New Delhi: The senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Shashi Prakash Goyal has taken charge as the new Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, succeeding Manoj Kumar Singh who retired on Thursday. Goyal, a 1989-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), officially assumed office on Thursday.

Prior to this appointment, Goyal served as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and was in charge of the Civil Aviation, Estate, and Protocol departments. He has also held the position of Additional Resident Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh.

In his first remarks after taking charge, Goyal expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the trust placed in him. He affirmed the state Government’s commitment to policies centered on zero tolerance, zero corruption, industrial growth, and economic development.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure Uttar Pradesh progresses rapidly on the path of development with a strong focus on making the state a one trillion dollar economy,” Goyal stated. He emphasized that all ongoing development projects will be completed within stipulated timelines and with the highest quality standards. “We will take concrete steps to establish Uttar Pradesh as an industrial hub, creating a prosperous future for citizens and new opportunities for the youth,” he added.

Outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, a 1988-batch IAS officer, had assumed the role on June 30, 2024. Reflecting on his tenure, Singh noted that several significant tasks and events were successfully executed under the leadership of Chief Minister Adityanath. He extended his appreciation to all departments and stakeholders for their cooperation and valuable support.

The transition ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Principal Secretary (Home and Information) Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary (Appointment and Personnel) M Devraj, Principal Secretary (Tourism) Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary (Planning) Alok Kumar, and Lucknow District Magistrate Vishakh G.
