New Delhi: Tarun Bajaj (IAS), who was recently appointed as Revenue Secretary, has been given additional charge as Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Ministry of Finance on Thursday. The government has approved the assignment of the additional charge of the post of DEA Secretary to Bajaj with immediate effect and till the regular incumbent joins the post or until further order, whichever is earlier. Earlier, Bajaj was serving in the same capacity before being appointed Revenue Secretary. On April 6, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had appointed Bajaj as Secretary in the Department of Revenue after the post fell vacant. Bajaj will hold the additional charge of the post till Ajay Seth (IAS), who has been appointed as the Secretary in DEA, joins the post.

Bajaj is a 1988-batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre. He has completed his graduation in commerce (B. Com) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, post-graduation in science (MSc) from London School of Economics and Political Science, and also holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and CFA from Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University. Prior to joining the Ministry of Finance, Bajaj had worked in the Prime Minister's Office as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary. He had also held additional charge as Revenue Secretary following the superannuation of Ajay Bhushan Pandey in February this year.
