New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for entrustment of additional charge of the post of Chairperson (JS level) of Visakhapatnam Port Authority to TK Ramachandran (IAS). According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed to the post for a period of six months with effect from April 1, 2023 or till the appointment of a new incumbent or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

Ramachandran is a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. Presently, he is serving as Chairperson of VO Chidambaranar Port Authority. He has been serving as Chairperson of VOC Port Trust since January 1, 2019.

Ramachandran has received several awards and citations from Government of India and State Government. He holds B Tech (Hons) from IIT, Kharagpur and M Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Delhi and a Master’s in Public Policy from Princeton University as ‘World Bank- Robert McNamara’ Fellow.

He has served in various capacities in Government of Tamil Nadu including collector and district magistrate in Ramanathapuram and Villupuram, Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu (Highways and Minor Ports), Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu (Information Technology), Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd., Director General of Training, Government of Tamil Nadu, Managing Director of AAVIN, Deputy Commissioner of Corporation of Chennai, Project Director of TN Road Sector Project, Project Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
