New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by the Prime Minister has approved the appointments of these two IAS officers on the newer positions on Thursday.
Senior IAS officer BVR Subrahmanyam (IAS), who is currently posted as the Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Subrahmanyam is a 1987-batch Chhattisgarh-cadre IAS officer. He has previously served in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) under both Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi. He has been instrumental in containing insurgency in Chhattisgarh in the 2010s.
Further, he has also been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Commerce upon the superannuation of Anup Wadhawan (IAS).
In a separate order issued on the same day, the ACC has also approved the appointment of Dr Sandhya Bhullar (IAS) as Secretary in the National Medical Commission under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Dr Bhullar is a 2003-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. She is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance.
