CI Acharya set to be next Director (Finance) of SCI

New Delhi: CI Acharya is set to be the next Director (Finance) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Materials) in Mangalore Refineries & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG).

The Director (Finance) post in SCI is vacant since December 16, 2019. However, SCI's Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD) HK Joshi is holding the additional charge of the post.

Acharya has been selected for the post of Director (Finance) of SCI from a list of two candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. Another candidate, who was on the list was from GMR Group.

As Director (Finance) of SCI, Acharya will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He will be overall in charge of the finance and accounts functions of the organisation and will be responsible for evolving and formulating finance policies as well as implementation.
