New Delhi: ReNew Power has commissioned 250 MW capacity of its interstate transmission system solar generation project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, the company said in an official statement on Thursday. It will provide clean energy to Bihar at a rate of Rs 2.55 per unit and direct employment to about 600 people. According to the statement, the remaining 50 MW capacity is expected to be commissioned by the end of this month. The project has a total generation capacity of 300 MW.

It was won by ReNew Power in tranche-III of the competitive auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

"This project is another step towards achieving close to 18 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2025… This project was commissioned within the budget and the stipulated time despite COVID related challenges," said Sumant Sinha, founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, ReNew Power. He added that this is the first project to be commissioned after ReNew Power started trading on NASDAQ.

The company said that in this project, it will be installing monocrystalline modules with fixed tilt and string inverters to enhance efficiency and will also be using robotic module cleaning at the site to conserve water.
