Shimla: The coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken the world by storm. In this time of crisis, state-run SJVN Limited,  a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has taken several measures to deal with this pandemic. SJVN has agreed in principle to provide Rs 1 crore to combat coronavirus (COVID-19).

SJVN Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Nand Lal Sharma told that this amount will be utilised for procuring six ventilators by Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital, Shimla and five ventilators by Dr Rajender Prasad Medical College, Tanda and some ventilators in Rampur Hospital at Khaneri. SJVN Limited will also extend financial support to provide other essential items like masks, sanitizers and gloves to these health institutions.

Sharma said that, in addition, the employees of SJVN are also contributing to fight with COVID-19. An amount of around Rs. 25,00,000 (twenty-five lakh) collected from contributions from all the employees will also be utilised in this fight against COVID-19.

This amount will be utilised for procuring six ventilators by Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital, Shimla and five ventilators by Dr Rajender Prasad Medical College, Tanda and some ventilators in Rampur Hospital at Khaneri

He further informed that the organisation is taking lead in spreading awareness on the coronavirus spread. To supplement the efforts of the government, Hoardings have been installed by SJVN Limited in various parts of the Shimla town such as, between Old Bus Stand and the lift, Sanjauli, Khalini, BCS, Panthaghati, Mehli and SJVN's  Corporate Office Complex, Shakti Sadan. Radio jingles, spreading awareness on the disease have been composed and are being aired through All India Radio and Big FM Shimla.
