New Delhi: Power Grid has signed an MoU with the Haryana State Development and Panchayat Department for construction and restoration of crematoriums and burial grounds in rural areas of the state under the Shiv Dham Yojana.
The MoU has been signed in the presence of Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini, Cabinet Minister of Haryana Rao Narbir Singh, Power Grid's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) RK Tyagi, Director (Personnel) Dr Yatindra Dwivedi, Addl. CEO of Haryana State CSR Trust Gaurav Singh, and other senior officials from Power Grid, Government of Haryana and Districts Administration, Gurugram.
The Shiv Dham Yojana will benefit 503 villages and 658 places across four districts of Haryana - Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, and Rewari. This initiative aims to ensure essential facilities, including drinking water, covered shelters, access roads, and boundary walls in all cremation grounds and cemeteries located in rural areas of the state. The State Development and Panchayat Department of Haryana will oversee the implementation. The Shiv Dham Yojana seeks to provide a dignified and respectful environment for conducting last rites, while also promoting environmentally friendly practices.
