The initiative, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare access in underserved regions, has been formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami. The event has been attended by the Health Minister of Uttarakhand Dhan Singh Rawat; Health Department Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar; Director General Health Dr Sunita Tamta; REC Regional Office Dehradun CPM Sunil Bisht; CSC Academy COO Jha, along with other senior officials from REC Limited and CSC Academy.

The MMUs have been launched in partnership with CSC Academy and will operate across three districts — Haridwar (2 units), Udham Singh Nagar (2 units), and Tehri Garhwal (1 unit). The vehicles are equipped with essential diagnostic tools, basic treatment facilities, and will deliver free primary healthcare services six days a week, particularly targeting remote and marginalized communities.

In a notable gender-focused innovation, one of the five MMUs is exclusively dedicated to women's healthcare and will be manned entirely by female medical professionals. This unit is specifically tailored to address the unique health challenges faced by women in conservative and hard-to-reach areas.

The MMUs will function in coordination with the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and the State Health Department to ensure seamless integration with existing public health infrastructure and service delivery systems. The project aligns with the state government's broader healthcare vision of “Swasth Uttarakhand, Samriddh Uttarakhand”.

REC Limited, a key player in the country’s power sector financing, continues to invest in impactful CSR initiatives focused on health, education, and rural development, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and community welfare.
