

New Delhi: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) for three corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in Paschim Bardhaman district at the CSR Roundtable 2026 convened by the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.

ECL Director (HR) Gunjan Kumar Sinha presented the LoIs at the roundtable held in Kolkata under the theme “Building a Viksit Bengal for Collective Social Impact”. The event brought together senior officials of the state government, Central and state PSUs, private sector organisations and CSR representatives to discuss development priorities and opportunities for collaborative interventions.
The three CSR projects focus on healthcare, early childhood care and water conservation. They include nutritional support for tuberculosis (TB) patients in Paschim Bardhaman under the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative as part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, renovation of Anganwadi Centres around ECL's mining areas, and rejuvenation of a water body in one of the company's operational areas.
ECL's Ni-kshay Mitra initiative received special mention at the roundtable. Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, Narayan Swaroop Nigam, appreciated ECL's nutritional support for TB patients and its initiative to provide diagnostic equipment to strengthen preventive healthcare measures in Paschim Bardhaman district.

ECL said the CSR initiatives are aligned with local development priorities and the needs of communities in and around its operational areas. The company continues to undertake CSR interventions focused on community welfare, sustainable development and creation of shared value across its command areas.
