New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has bolstered its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by launching two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) and donating an advanced life support ambulance to AIIMS, New Delhi. The MMUs were flagged off by the Member of Parilament from New Delhi Bansuri Swaraj in a ceremony on Thursday. On the occasion, GAIL's Director (HR) Ayush Gupta, AIIMS Director Dr M Srinivas, AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr Nirupam Madaan and senior official from both organisation were also present.
The MMUs are part of "Project Arogya," GAIL's flagship CSR initiative aimed at providing free primary healthcare services to underprivileged communities. Equipped with GPS tracking and manned by qualified medical teams, the units will cater to approximately 80 patients daily, offering medical consultations, medicines, basic diagnostic tests, and low-cost sanitary napkins.
Following the ADCR (Awareness, Diagnosis, Cure, and Referral) model, the MMUs also undertake awareness campaigns on health and hygiene through Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities. These services are particularly beneficial for the elderly and physically challenged, who often face challenges accessing distant medical facilities, thereby reducing healthcare expenses for marginalized families.
Currently, 50 MMUs are operational across 25 districts in 12 states under Project Arogya. The addition of these two units underscores GAIL’s commitment to expanding healthcare access for underserved communities.
In a separate CSR initiative, GAIL provided an advanced life support ambulance to AIIMS, New Delhi, to enhance emergency medical services at one of the country's premier healthcare institutions.
