New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration of Sambalpur for Project ‘Sikshotthan’, a landmark initiative aimed at benefiting over 41,000 elementary students in this district of western Odisha.

In a ceremony held on International Day of Education last evening, MCL committed Rs 20.5 crores for the procurement of 20,617 dual desks to be distributed across 809 elementary schools in Sambalpur.

The MoU was officially signed by the Collector & District Magistrate of Sambalpur and the General Manager (CSR) of MCL, reinforcing MCL’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), particularly in the field of education.

This initiative will significantly enhance the learning environment, ensuring that students in elementary grades have access to better, more comfortable desks, thereby supporting their academic progress and overall well-being.
