New Delhi: Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive development and social upliftment, NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has announced two fully sponsored educational initiatives for tribal youth in Chhattisgarh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs — the ‘Balika Shiksha Yojana’ for tribal girls and a newly introduced Medical Technology Program for underprivileged boys and girls in partnership with Apollo University, Chittoor.

Balika Shiksha Yojana: Free Nursing Education for Tribal Girls

Under its flagship CSR initiative, NMDC is offering 100 percent free nursing education to young tribal girls from the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Bijapur, and Narayanpur. The program includes 200 seats—110 for B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) and 90 for GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery, 3 years)—at leading institutions including Apollo School of Nursing, Yashoda School of Nursing, and KIMS College of Nursing in Hyderabad.

The initiative will cover the full cost of tuition, hostel, and academic expenses, with NMDC investing between Rs 12 to Rs 15 lakh per student. To be eligible, applicants must belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities and have a family income not exceeding Rs 72,000 per annum. The last date to apply is June 28.

Medical Technology Program: Allied Healthcare Education for ST Youth

NMDC, in collaboration with Apollo University, Chittoor, has also launched a transformative Medical Technology Program for underprivileged tribal students—both boys and girls—from Dantewada and Bastar districts. The program offers 90 fully sponsored seats, with 60 percent reserved for girls and 40 percent for boys.

  3. Medical Lab Technology

  4. Anaesthesiology & Operation Theatre Technician

  5. Imaging Technology

  6. Physician Assistant

  7. Renal Dialysis Technology

Each selected candidate will receive full financial support estimated at Rs 12 to Rs 15 lakh. The last date to submit applications for this program is June 30.
