New Delhi: National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has launched a scheme to support the researchers and innovators to mature the lab-scale technologies to commercial scale technologies for combating Coronavirus (COVID-19). According to the company, the financial support is in the form of a grant in aid is up to Rs 10 lakhs. A higher amount can also be considered in deserving proposal having high impact. This financial assistance is for value addition such as scaling up, prototype development, market testing of the prototype, generating data required by regulatory authorities and certification etc. The focus areas are eco-friendly sanitisers, rapid test kits, PPEs, ventilators, medicines and vaccines. Research laboratories, universities, startups, MSMEs can apply for this grant.

In addition, NRDC has also brought out a compendium on Indian technologies for combating Coronavirus (COVID -19). Most of these technologies are at the proof of concept (POC) tested and help the entrepreneurs to take the product to market at a faster time as they do not have to reinvent the wheel. Startups/Entrepreneurs who would like to commercialise these POC tested technologies are also eligible for applying this grant for commercializing these technologies. The last date for applying on the prescribed application form is May 15.

Who can apply?

Research & development institutions, Universities, Start-ups, MSMEs and industries can apply.

Support for

Development of Coronavirus (COVID-19) technologies in the area of tracking, testing and treatment covering process scale-up, pilot plant studies, validation or authentication of the products, registration of the product with regulatory authorities. Conduction field trials generation of toxicology data, bridging the gap between the lab-scale development and industrial requirement, so that commercial production and marketing product become successful.

Amount for grant

  1. Rs 2.00 lakh under techno-commercial support
  2. Rs 10.00 lakh under priority projects
  3. In deserving cases, the amount of grant assistance may be enhanced subject to the recommendation of the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) and availability of the budget, on mutually agreed conditions.
  4. One company can apply for only for one grant
