
New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Haryana State CSR Trust to fund the construction of a 100-bedded girls’ hostel and a teaching block, and supply of IT, medical, music equipment at Government Girls College, Sector-14, Gurugram.
The MoUs have signed in presence of the Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini; Union Minister of State (IC) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjeet Singh; Minister for Industries and Commerce of Haryana Rao Narbir Singh; Power Grid's Director (Personnel) Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi; Power Grid Executive Director (Corp. Comm. & Law) Adish Kumar Gupta; Power Grid's Executive Director (CSR) Jasbir Singh and other senior officials from Power Grid, Govt. of Haryana and District Administration, Gurugram. The MoUs were signed by Power Grid's GM (HR-CSR), NR-I AK Mishra; and Ajay Kumar, DC cum Jt. Secretary, Haryana State CSR Trust.
These initiatives, with an estimated cost of Rs 20.38 crore for the girls’ hostel, teaching block and supply of equipment, shall be a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment and improving educational infrastructure for girls in and around Gurugram. Corporate Social Responsibility is embedded into Power Grid’s business model and is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Power Grid has been consistently contributing to the field of economic and social development across the country with its CSR initiatives.
As on November 30, Power Grid has commissioned and is operating 280 Sub-stations, more than 1,78,975 ckm transmission lines and 5,45,961 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, Power Grid has been able to maintain an average transmission system availability of more than 99.80 percent.
