
New Delhi: REC Limited, through its CSR arm, REC Foundation, has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) with Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal, Chennai, committing Rs 6 crore for the ‘Eye Care for All’ initiative. The project aims to provide free cataract surgeries to 8,000 economically disadvantaged individuals in and around Chennai.
The MoA has been formalized on February 17, by Thara Ramesh, Chief Program Manager (CPM), REC Regional Office Chennai, and Wg Cdr V Shankar (Retd), Trustee, Sankara Eye Hospital. The signing ceremony was attended by Narayanan Thirupathy, Director (Independent), REC Limited, along with officials from REC’s Regional Office and Sankara Eye Hospital.
This initiative is focused on restoring vision and enhancing the quality of life for underprivileged patients by providing free cataract surgeries. It underscores REC Foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayanan Thirupathy said, “REC Foundation is committed to empowering communities through impactful CSR initiatives. Our partnership with Sankara Eye Hospital is a significant step towards eliminating avoidable blindness and improving lives.”
