New Delhi: In a significant step towards enhancing community healthcare in the Vidarbha region, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has provided advanced medical equipment worth Rs 169.26 lakh to Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre, Nagpur, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The equipment, inaugurated by Dr. Hemant Shard Pande, Director (HR), WCL, includes state-of-the-art systems such as the Spectra Optia Apheresis System, Cryofuge Centrifuges, and the Evolis 4 Plate ELISA Processor. These additions are expected to substantially bolster the Centre’s capacity to support patients with conditions like thalassemia and sickle cell disease, as well as other critical ailments requiring advanced blood processing and testing.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Pande reaffirmed WCL’s commitment to social development, particularly in the field of healthcare. “At WCL, we believe in empowering institutions that lead with compassion and excellence. This initiative reflects our dedication to improving healthcare access and outcomes for the underprivileged,” he said.
Established in 1993, Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre has been a cornerstone of healthcare service in Vidarbha, operating with the motto “None shall suffer for want of blood.” With the latest support from WCL, the Centre is now better equipped to expand its services and ensure timely and quality care to those in need.
